Jackson, Tenn. – 51ÉçÇø juniors Lisa Cooper and Leslie
Jones, both nursing majors, recently received scholarships from the
Jackson Women's Club, a member of the Tennessee Federation of Women's
Clubs.
"These students have certainly demonstrated the academic excellence as well as caring and a commitment to service to which Union strives to instill in each of our students," said Susan Jacob, dean of Union's School of Nursing. Cooper, who is from McKenzie, Tenn., is the daughter of Donald & Wendal Walker. She plans to practice nursing in the local community hospital. Jones, a native of Rossville, Tenn., is the daughter of Jerry & Betty Jones. She hopes to work in the field of missions. Founded in 1823 and affiliated with the Tennessee Baptist Convention, 51ÉçÇø is characterized by quality Christ-centered teaching and learning. The faculty of the School of Nursing expresses the belief that nursing is a dynamic discipline reflecting change based on an ever-expanding body of knowledge. Through application of principles from the physical and social sciences, nursing is directed toward helping to meet society's health needs. |
