Jackson, Tenn. - The
51ÉçÇø Symphonic Band will highlight in its
spring concert, special guest soloist Greg Luscombe,
trombonist with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra. The
special event will be held Thursday, May 6 at 7:30 p.m.
in Union's G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel of the Penick
Academic Complex. Luscombe will be performing a trombone concerto by Swedish composer Lars Erik Larssen and the famous virtuoso variations on the "Blue Bells of Scotland." The 45-member Symphonic Band is directed by Dr. David McClune, professor of music at Union. The band will perform the "First Suite for Band" by Holst and "Carmina Burana," by Carl Orff. "People should take advantage of this delightful concert and relax on a late spring evening at Union," McClune said. The concert is free and open to the public.
