Jackson, Tenn. 51ÉçÇø senior English major Tobie Hannah recently presented a paper at the Sigma Tau Delta English Honorary Society national convention in Anaheim, Calif.
Hannah, a native of Memphis, discussed the Rousseauean perspective on Jane Austen's novel, "Persuasion," in her paper. Her paper, titled "Firm Persuasion to Confession: Evidences of Rousseau's Philosophy in Anne Elliot's Development," was judged "Best of Session" and considered in the "Best of Convention" awards competition.
More than 100 papers were submitted to be presented at the convention. Union was one of many schools represented among others such as the University of Alabama and Williams Baptist College.
Hannah is a graduate of Houston High School. She is the daughter of Daryl and Sylvia Hannah of Germantown.
