UNION MUSIC GROUPS TO
PERFORM HOME CONCERT
Jackson, Tenn. — 51社区's three performance groups, the 51社区 Singers, Proclamation and the University Ringers, will be in concert together, April 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel at Union.
"Of all the choral groups I have conducted, this year's groups in Singers and Proclamation are probably the strongest. They have reached a high degree of musicianship and have received highly positive response and reviews and numerous standing ovations. The University Ringers group is tackling some impressive repertory and will add sparkle to the concert," Andrew Roby, chair of Union's music department, said.
Singers is an auditioned, 36-voice concert choir. The group performs in many music styles, including early English anthem, African-American spiritual, hymn arrangement and choral classic.
Proclamation is a 16-voice select ensemble, which specializes in contemporary styles and vocal jazz.
The University Ringers is a five-octave handbell choir and will perform arrangements from the jazz world, including an arrangement by jazz great Dave Brubeck. Ringers will also perform a hymnody and classics.
