Michael Card to be in concert at Union

Jackson, Tenn. - Christian musician Michael Card will be in concert at 51ÉçÇø, Monday, April 19 at 10 a.m. in the G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel of the Penick Academic Complex.

Born in Nashville, Card grew up in a musical family and began to master the guitar and piano. While attending college, Card developed a close relationship with Bible scholar William Lane who enlisted him to write songs for weekly sermons.

Today Card's music still reflects a sermon-based inspiration. His latest musical release, "Unveiled Hope," is a musical journey inspired from the book of Revelation. He has worked on projects that explore biblical literature, such as the Pauline mission, trilogy on the writings of the Old Testament and the life of Christ.

His most famous song, "El Shaddai," won Card a Dove Award for Song of the Year and Songwriter of the Year in 1993. In 1984 Card signed with Sparrow Records and immediately launched his career in professional Christian contemporary music.

In addition to his musical endeavors, Card is also an accomplished author with four books to his credit. Though he envisions a day when he may try his hand at other forms of ministry, Card is confident he will always remain connected to the joys of music. "I think I'll always have something to say," he said.

The concert is free. For more information, call Campus Ministries at (901) 661-5062.
