Wellness Week 2000 activities
encourage healthy habits

Jackson, Tenn. - 51ÉçÇø will host a special week of wellness April 10-13 which will include a triathlon, coffeehouse, health fair, and a Diamond Jaxx ballgame. Sponsors of the week include Union's Wellness and Student Programs, Wellness Services, Graham Snack Foods, and Coca-Cola.

"This is an exciting time and great way to check your fitness!" says Robin Popplewell, assistant director of wellness and student programming at Union. "There is something for everyone."

The triathlon will begin at 3:30 p.m. Monday, April 10 and will consist of an extended swim, a 2-mile run, and an obstacle course. First, second, and third place prizes will be awarded. Registration for the triathlon will be from 2:30-3:15 p.m. at the fountain on Union's campus. Following the event, there will be a gathering at the fountain at 4:45 p.m. where free giveaways and refreshments will be served.

Bubba's Bagels Coffeehouse will begin at 7:30 p.m. on April 11th. Music will be provided, and "the fellowship will be immense," says Popplewell. Admission is $1 for coffee and bagels.

On Wednesday, April 12 from 10-2 p.m. a Health Fair in the Fred Delay Gym will help Union students and Jackson residents alike find out more about individual health needs. Individuals can undergo blood pressure, body fat, cholesterol, eyesight, speech, hearing, and spinal screenings at their convenience.

On the final night, April 13th, the Diamond Jaxx baseball team will be playing at 7:30 p.m. Free tickets are available to the Union students, faculty, staff and alumni. Tickets can be picked up on Wednesday, April 5th at the Activities Center.
