UNION UNIVERSITY STUDENTS PRESENT PAPERS IN CALIFORNIA

Jackson, Tenn. — 51ÉçÇø senior English majors Tobie Hannah and Kimberly Harvey recently presented papers at the Sigma Tau Delta English Honorary Society national convention in Anaheim, Calif.

Hannah, a native of Memphis, discussed the Rousseauean perspective on Jane Austen's novel, "Persuasion," in her paper. Her paper was titled "Firm Persuasion to Confession: Evidences of Rousseau's Philosophy in Anne Elliot's Development."

Harvey, a native of Trenton, offered an interpretation of the recent Arthur Miller play, "Broken Glass," in her paper. Her paper was titled "Shards of Truth from a Broken Glass."

More than 100 papers were submitted to be presented at the convention. Union was one of many schools represented among others such as the University of Alabama and Williams Baptist College.
