"We want this to be an interesting and engaging program that realistically deals with the way faith relates to a variety of issues in our society, from politics to business to popular entertainment," explains Duduit. Most of the guests will be drawn from Union's faculty, but guests will also include civic and church leaders from throughout West Tennessee. The first program, slated to air on March 31, is entitled, "Can You Vote Your Faith?" and will deal with the relationship of religious faith to political life. Guests will include: David Gushee, professor of Christian ethics at Union and a featured columnist with the Jackson Sun; Hal Poe, Vice President for Academic Resources at Union and a former Republican Party leader in South Carolina; an Nancy Thomas, an adjunct professor of political science at Union and former staff member for a Democratic governor. A special feature of the program will be the opportunity to call the program and visit with the guests. "We look forward to allowing people across West Tennessee to call in and participate in some great discussions on significant topics that affect all of our lives," Duduit says. In addition to over-the-air broadcast, the program will be available via the Internet to listeners around the world. The address is and requires Windows Media Player (which is available for download for no cost at that site). Duduit, who will host the program weekly, also serves as Associate Professor of Christian Studies at Union and is editor of Preaching magazine, a professional journal for ministers. |
