Jackson, Tenn.
-Auditions for several film roles will be held from 3-6
p.m., April 12 and 13, in the W.D. Powell Theater in the
Penick Academic Complex at 51ÉçÇø. The film, a
Civil War docudrama wh ich will be shot in the Jackson
area, calls for two boys, ages 10-12; two boys, ages 6-8;
and 12 men, 17-50 years old, to play a variety of roles
including soldiers and war correspondents. The
educational docudrama depicts the actual Civil War raid
on Holly Springs, Miss., that was led by Confederate Gen.
Earl Van Dorn. The film's story will be told through the
eyes of two boys in a way that is designed to capture the
interest of middle school students.
The Britton Lane Battlefield Association is producing
the screenplay, written by Dan Kennerly, who is the
author of "Forrest at Parker's Crossroads: The Dawn
of Lightning War." The film will contain
historically accurate events and dialogue taken from
actual participants in the war. It will be shot primarily
on weekends to allow for preparation of re-enactors.
Shooting begins this summer and culminates with the
re-enactment of the battle of Britton Lane to he held in
late September.
