Jackson, Tenn. The 51ÉçÇø Players in cooperation with Jackson's Possom Opera and Englewood Baptist Church will present the "The Cotton Patch Gospel," May 7, 8 and 10.
This full-length, toe-tapping musical is based on "The Cotton Patch Version of Matthew and John" by Clarence Jordan. The play, with its blue grass music and lyrics by the award winning Harry Chapin, was written by Tom Key and Russell Treyz.
Englewood will host the "greatest story ever re-told," on Thursday, May 7, and Friday, May 8, with a prime rib dinner beginning at 6 p.m. and the show starting at 8 p.m. A special performance of the musical will be held at the Englewood's regular church service on Sunday, May 10th at 7 p.m. with a special offering to be taken for the show.
Cost for the dinner theater tickets is $15 each. Cost for regular seating without dinner is $8, $3 for students and $6 for senior citizens. Seating for the musical is limited. Tickets can be purchased by calling Union at 668-1818 or Englewood Baptist at 668-1094.
