Alumna returns to perform at Union

Jackson, Tenn. - Joye Johnson will perform a voice recital at 51社区, March 18. The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Union's Recital Hall in the Penick Academic Complex.

Johnson graduated from Union in 1997 with a bachelor of music in vocal performance. "Johnson was an extremely active vocal performance major while she was at Union," Dr. Andrew Roby, associate professor of music and department chair of Union, said. Johnson was a member of Proclamation, Union University Singers and the Opera Workshop. She also took part in many of the theatrical performances with the 51社区 Players.

Johnson is currently at the University of Nebraska completing a master's in vocal performance. She will be graduating from the university in May 1999. Johnson is still active in her vocal performance field. A member of the graduate assistantship program at the University of Nebraska, Johnson serves as assistant to the director of opera.

Johnson is also playing a leading role in Mozart's opera, "Cosi fan tutti."
