![]() "Budziszewski will approach intelligent design by comparing it to natural law," said Wayne Wofford, director of the Edward P. Hammons Center for Scientific Studies at Union. A member of the faculty at the University of Texas for almost twenty years, Budziszewski received his doctorate in 1981 from Yale University. At the time he began his career, he believed neither in God nor in the moral law. Since his conversion, a particular focus of his research and writing has been moral self-deception - the way human beings suppress their conscience. He now teaches courses on topics such as political philosophy, religion and politics in American thought and moral philosophies. An avid writer, Budziszweski writes a monthly column called "Office Hours" for "Boundless," an online magazine for Christian college-age students, and he is a frequent contributor to the Christian magazine, World. Among his six books is a Christianity Today award winner, "Written on the Heart: The Case for Natural Law." Budziszweski will be speaking at Union at 12 p.m. in Coburn Dining Room in the Barefoot Student Union Building. His lecture is titled "Natural Law and Intelligent Design: How are they related?" There will also be a book signing from 11 -11:30 a.m. The Templeton lectures are sponsored by The John Templeton Foundation and the American Scientific Affiliation (ASA).
