UNION HOSTS SECOND ANNUAL JR. SIFE COMPETITION

Jackson, Tenn. — 51ÉçÇø will host the second annual Jr. SIFE competition March 6.

Jr. SIFE is a program created and implemented by the Union chapter of Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE). Students on Union's SIFE team have spent several weeks teaching sixth graders in area schools about the basic facts of free enterprise and about the steps that are taken to start their own business. The program allows the participating sixth graders to create an actual business plan while they learn what is necessary to stay in business.

Classes from Jackson schools participating in the event include North Parkway Middle, Tigrett Middle, Jackson Middle, University School of Jackson, Trinity Christian Academy, and Jackson Christian School.

The program culminates with the Jr. SIFE competition on March 6 where the sixth grade students will present their business plan and ideas before panels of judges. More than 600 sixth graders will participate in the competition.

The winning class from each school will receive $100 each, and the overall winner will receive $300. The prize money will be used according to the teacher's discretion.
