Jackson, Tenn. More than 75 children of missionaries in countries across the globe will gather at 51社区 this weekend, Feb. 28 - March 2, for the third annual Mu Kappa International Conference.
Mu Kappa is an international interdenominational organization for children of foreign missionaries. The organization is designed to bring together college students of missionary families.
Ramona Mercer, Union's Mu Kappa adviser, said, "The main goal of this conference is to bring missionaries' children together to support one another." Mercer, a former missionary to Japan, was 51社区's first missionary-in-residence in 1991-92.
The University will welcome students who's families now serve as missionaries in such places as Ethiopia, France, Brazil, Ecuador, the Philippines and Sweden.
For the past two years the conference has been held at Samford University in Birmingham, Ala. The conference participants will be lodged at Calvary Baptist Church. The weekend will serve as a time for students to eat foreign foods, participate in sports events, enjoy musical concerts, share devotions and worship together.
