UNION UNIVERSITY TO HOLD
CONCERTS IN MARCH

Jackson, Tenn. - During the month of March, Union will sponsor a series of concerts held at noon on Wednesdays in the G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel.

The series, titled Bach's Lunch Recital Series, was initiated by the Union University Music Faculty in 1990. The idea grew out of an informal discussion about the European church tradition of offering organ recitals at noon on Wednesdays during the Lenten season. Music faculty members decided that by pooling their performing skills they could present a series of half-hour concerts at noon on Wednesdays during March.

The performers will be 51社区 faculty members and student ensembles. Terry McRoberts, professor of music, is currently serving as coordinator of the series. This year, the series is expanding to present the four concerts not only at Union, but also at First Baptist Church in Dyersburg.

The schedule for the series is as follows:

Wednesdays at Union:

March 4: Joseph Blass, Biblical songs by Dvorak

March 11: Pianist David Dennis and Terry McRoberts; Singers Dianne and Dwight Gatwood

March 18: Proclamation and University Handbells

March 25: Greg Luscombe, David McClune, Lee Weimer

Mondays at First Baptist Church, Dyersburg:

March 2: Joseph Blass

March 9: Pianist David Dennis and Terry McRoberts; Singers Dianne and Dwight Gatwood

March 23: David McClune

March 30: Proclamation and University Handbells
