Family Life Lectures offer ways
to build healthy relationships

Jackson, Tenn. - Husband and wife team Les and Leslie Parrott will be the featured speakers for the first annual Family Life Series Lectures to be held March 9-10 at 51ÉçÇø.

"We are excited to have the Parrotts with us for this special event," said Todd Brady, minister to the university. "Their expert teaching on the basics of healthy relationships have had a tremendous impact among people throughout the country. Our students are fortunate to hear such solid, biblically-based principles from this dynamic couple."

Co-directors of the at Seattle Pacific University, the Parrotts will speak for three separate lectures centering on the topics of relationships, dating and marriage. The Parrotts, married for 15 years, have written several books including "Questions Couples Ask" and "Becoming Soul Mates." The couple has been featured in USA Today, The New York Times, The Chicago Tribune and The Los Angeles Times. Additionally, the Parrotts have been guests on CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC's "Good Morning America," "Oprah" and "The 700 Club."

The three sessions, which will be held in the G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel on Union's campus, include the following:

  • "Building Healthy Relationships" - Thursday, March 9, 10 a.m.
  • "What's Love Got To Do With It?" - Thursday, March 9, 7 p.m.
  • "How to Fight The Good Fight" - Friday, March 10, 10 a.m.

Sponsored by Dr. and Mrs. Thomas T. Crabtree, the purpose of this lecture series, according to Brady, "is to communicate to students the practical implications of God's plan about marriage." Union has already taken measures to enhance the study of family by starting a new major and minor in family studies through the department of sociology and social work.
