Jackson, Tenn. Representatives from each of the Jackson-Madison County schools are expected to attend a medication administration workshop at 51ÉçÇø on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 8:30 a.m.
The program, designed and coordinated by Union's School of Nursing and approved by the school system's central office, will be held in BAC-44.
Carla Sanderson, dean of the School of Nursing, said the program is designed to provide school officials with instructions in the proper self-administration of medication by students.
Geri Smith, assistant professor of nursing, developed the program and will facilitate the training session. She explained the training will involve medication administration procedures and documentation guidelines. "As a community health nurse and professor, I believe an important element of our work is to provide a service to the community," Smith added.
The training programs comes amidst changing state regulations for educators regarding the administration of medical procedures.
