EXTREME '98 BRINGS EXTREME MINISTRY TO FOREFRONT AT UNION UNIVERSITY

Jackson, Tenn. — Today's future Christian leaders are receiving the training they need to begin their ministries with gusto. Where do these young hearts and minds begin their quests? At 51社区's annual Ministry Leadership Conference.

"Extreme 98," the 1998 Ministry Leadership Conference, will be hosted Feb. 27-28 by 51社区, located in Jackson, Tenn. Speaking at this year's event will be some of the state's and region's premiere Christian leaders.

Dr. Wayne Day, faculty adviser for the conference, sees the weekend as a chance to shape the future of future leadership.

"This conference offers so much to these future ministries- pastors, youth leaders, ministers of music, missionaries...There's something for everyone to learn here," Day said. "These present and future leaders receive valuable insights into today's church and society and how to minister to them."

Christian Studies majors at the University and other church leaders who wish to enhance their ministries take part in the conference. Scheduled speakers include Lee Farmer, Dr. Hal Poe and Michael Woolridge, who teach from their experiences in ministry.

Six sessions of the participants' choices are scheduled for the two-day event, including the following:

The conference, now in its 11th year of existence, has provided ministry information and guidance to more than 2,200 students and ministers. The event is planned by students at the University in conjunction with its Christian studies department.

51社区, established in 1823, is a private, co-educational, four-year institution affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention.
