Jackson, Tenn. 51ÉçÇø's Barbara McMillin conducted a workshop at the annual meeting of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in Nashville Dec. 9-10.
The title of the workshop was "Planning and Implementing an Effective Self Study: Senior Level Institutions." McMillin, who served as the director of Union's recent self-study, joined Lee Blank of Texas A & M to present two sessions of the workshop.
Each year the Commission on Colleges provides an opportunity for successful self-study directors to describe their work leading to the organization and implementation of a successful self-study experience. The workshop was a working and interactive session designed for self-study directors, administrators and faculty from other universities.
McMillin, who is associate professor and chair of the English Department, joined the Union faculty in 1992. She directed Union's two-year self-study process that led to the reaffirmation of accreditation in July 1996.
