UNION SELECTED TO HOST STATE TAHPERD CONVENTION
Jackson, Tenn. — 51ÉçÇø has been selected to host the 1997 Tennessee Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (TAHPERD) State Convention Nov. 13-15, 1997.
Linn Stranak, professor and chair of the Department of Physical Education and Health, said Union is the first collegiate site to host the convention in many years. Previously, the convention rotates across the state and is held at large hotels and convention centers. The decision to move to the campus setting involved the need for better facilities.
The TAHPERD executive committee visited Union's campus and accepted Union's invitation to host the 1997 convention. "They told us Union was willing and had the necessary enthusiasm to host the event," Stranak said.
