Lecture Title: Earth Mimicry: Unlocking God's Design Solutions for Human Needs
Science is increasingly revealing new and deeper insights about the complex, interconnected systems of God's Creation. Through this new understanding, solutions to modern challenges are emerging and find root in new and dynamic designs for efficient buildings, clean energy, clean water, elimination of wastes, efficient and clean and quieter transportation, and healthy communities. The presentation offers examples from each of the planet's major systems (e.g., the atmosphere, geosphere, hydrosphere, and biosphere) and applied case studies from engineering, architecture, chemistry, and biology.
G. Dodd Galbreath is a professor of sustainability at Lipscomb University. In 2007, he founded the Southeast's first undergraduate and graduate academic sustainability program. He has worked for the past for 35 years in various environmental roles, working for two governors (one D and one R) and has been appointed to leadership roles by three mayors of Nashville. Galbreath has traveled throughout the United States, China and six European countries studying Earth systems, sustainability, and energy practices. He also has won two statewide awards for conservation and sustainability leadership and provides private consulting and speaking services.
