Gregory Poore
Associate Professor of Philosophy, Apologetics, and Ethics
Biography
Gregory S. Poore graduated from Union in 2007 as a Tigrett Medalist and returned as a faculty member in 2021. From 2013-2021 he served on the faculty at Shorter University, where he played a key role in successfully implementing, assessing, and reporting on their Quality Enhancement Plan for SACSCOC. He received his MA and PhD from Baylor University, where he was awarded three fellowships and received an outstanding dissertation award. He teaches classes in philosophy, ethics, apologetics, and Bible. His scholarly interests include ethics, philosophy of religion, theology, epistemology, and the history of philosophy.
Gregory and his wife, Bethany, have two daughters. They are members of First Baptist Church in Jackson, TN. His interests include music, literature, grilling, hiking, gardening, and farming. A little-known fact is that he is licensed by the Georgia Department of Agriculture to candle and grade eggs.
